Hi,

I've read so many posts on accuracy they are getting old and at this point I'm not sure how the tests were run.

This would be using a stock .22 rifle without glass or pillar bedding. A forearm barrel channel slightly sanded would be ok.

So how does your rifle do under calm or nearly calm wind at 50 and/or 100 yards using the folowing setup...
A solid support like sandbags under the forearm and rear of the stock using a good bench. No match ammo please. Please specify what scope magnification you are using. What is the best AVERAGE group with one brand of your best shooting ammo, then say 2 other brands?

Thanks.

Lots will depend on finding the right ammo.  Most of the bargain ammo is good enough for shooting tin cans but have so much variation in charge and bullet weight that no gun will group well by target standards.

I have a 452 American that would shoot 1" at 50 yds out of the box with a 4x scope with various cheap ammo, including the "Golden bullet" bulk pack stuff.

With Brookie's trigger kit, relieving of the forearm and Wolf match target it gets an average of 1/2" groups. I'd say that the effort required for the trigger and stock fix combined with the better (And still fairly cheap) ammo was well worth it.

Sorry, I should have specified a .22 rifle. I'm suprised there weren't more responses. It's like maybe a lot of the tack drivers may have only done it one time, or there aren't many CZ shooters watching this forum.

It looks like the .17 is going to out do the .22, unless using match ammo. Thanks anyhow.

ba50:

Under those conditions, using a 452 Lux and 9x magnification:
1) 50 yds with wal-mart/federal bulk ammo: 10 shots in .45" or .46". 100 yds with same ammo 2" to 2.25". Similar results with Winchester Power Points.
2) 50 yds with Federal standard velocity 0.25" - 0.3". 100 yds with same ammo 0.8" - 1"

Well I went out and bought a CZ American .22 a month ago and like it a lot. Shoots less than dime size groups at 50 yards with match ammo, some cheaper brands 1/2" or slightly bigger, and others 3/4 to 1". Yeh, I'm pretty happy with it.

Even with Brook's springs in it the trigger has a real mushy break. Guess I'll have to put a bushing in and see how it does.

I have a Brno CZ 452 Lux. It has the 25” barrel and barrel mounted sights. I mounted a 2x7 Leopold rimfire scope on it. I haven’t benched it much, but it seems to like RWS subsonic hollowpoints. At 50 yds it shoots into around ˝”. At 100 yds, it shot into about 1 1/8”. And it is so quite, it sounds like it has a silencer.

After putting that Brook's cylinder in I got a cleaner break, now for a lighter spring.

The Aguila subsonics have a lot of drop to them.

I keep reading reports of under 1/2 inch five shot groups at 50 yards, but my groups are closer to one inch, off sandbags on a  benchrest. There are so many variables. The right ammo, wind, trigger, sights, shooter ability. I had mine bedded by a reputable gunsmith, but it didn't seem to make a difference. I am hoping to find ammo that will give me 1/2 inch groups.

Try Wolf Match target if you haven't already. Great stuff. Federa Gold Medal is a close second.
