LOUISIANA GUARD DOG
« on: April 08, 2007, 06:05:59 AM »
FOLKS ,
I have a 2001Honda Rubicon with  6" high rack & a plastic box right behind it on the outside of the rack . I made the holder for the box so the bottom of it sits  about even with the original rack .My truck is a 2007 Ford F150 supercrew with a 5.5" bed. I can't get the bike in the bed with the tailgate up so I was thinking about this item called the Louisiana Guard Dog ( LGD ) that inserts in your receiver hitch & locks the bike down.
Has anyone used / seen this item ? If you have one how do you like it ? I'm concerned about the weight of the bike on the tailgate , but they claim that the LGD holds it up as well as down , so you are not applying any extra weight on the tailgate & that the rear of the bike is the lightest part ( w/o my extra 200lbs on it ).
If you all like it & think it's worth the $$  please let me know.  (DOES ANYONE HAVE A PHOTO OF IT ON THERE TRUCK )DOES
Thank you in advance for your time & help .
A HAPPY EASTER TO ALL.

I bought one with the full lock set that goes with it from Cabela's I think it was last year when I thought I was gonna be able to take a trip to PA to visit a friend of mine there. I never used it as my health required me to cancel the trip. It's looking real doubtful I'll be taking any more out of state trips at least not in the foreseeable future. If you'd like one still in box unopened I'd sale it and the lock kit to you for a decent discount over the current price of them as I sure don't seem to have any current need for it. I have no clue what I paid for it or what they are now selling for but if you're interested contact me and we'll work out a fair price for you on it.

While I've not used mine I did talk to some folks who have used it before buying it and was assured it was the best way to haul a four wheeler there is. Not having used it I can't verify that.
