remington rimfire serial numbers
« on: July 28, 2007, 06:28:03 PM »
i know up until the gun control act of 1968 guns were not required to have a serial number.
however except for bolt action remington 22's all remington rifles i have seen had or have serial numbers until last weekend. i saw a first year production model 552 remington  speedmaster without one.  does anyont think  it could have been an oversite on remington's part. the rifle was a 1957 production the first year they were made. has anyone seen any without a serial number? it had the date code on the barrel and all markings on the receiver except the serial number. thanks for any help.

I have two 572's, one with a serial number and one without.
