range report w/ new .280Rem
« on: March 10, 2007, 09:42:11 AM »
finally made it to the range today with temps in the low 40's. Been itching to try my new .280 out. After shooting 20rnds to get the feel of the gun, I settled down with some reloads. Pic's are of the 3 best 3 shot groups of the day, all at 100yds. 2 avg about .75 inch and the other had a flier. with me doing my part gun seems to be real accurate.

Looks like a good start, a few more rounds and it'll probably settle down and put em all in one hole!! ;)

I agree with Tim ... for a first time out with a new rifle, I would be satisfied with those groups knowing it was only going to get better.

greast shooting from a new gun/barrel aldar, that is "meat on the poie" at any deer camp.
The .280's are really the unsung heros of the Handi clan. Thanks for sharing....<><.... :)

thanks guys, even I was surprised with some of the groups. seemed to like IMR4350 but I had some RL22 at near max loads that shot well too. can't wait to tweek  some of these loads. I owe it to GBO for the help with getting the gun ready to shoot

The 280 is my favorite Handi caliber and was my goto gun for a long time. It can get'er done when you need it.   Digger
