Lloyd:

What do you think is the cause of this?

I am seeing a lot of anti-gun related stuff in the news lately. For example, about how police departments "nationwide" are upgrading their firearms because of how they are now outgunned by criminals who have weapons that are now available since the sunset of the Clinton assault weapons ban. That's a load of horse manure. It looks like politics to me.

Do you think that reloading costs are related to politics too?

Well I have heard that we had seven (7) lead mines and six were closed by the government due to environment problems.

Then we have China.  They are buy up everything.  I think they are amassing weapons and ammo for something that we will not like.

It is strickly the market as it is today.  But then again that is all IMHO!!!     ;D

rummor i heard is the war is eating up a pretty good percentage of the primmers and powder right now. Its probably that and a combination of all the things allready posted. A guy should think about stocking up for the future. A day could come where lead and even powder and primers are non existant. then what do you think will happen to the price of factory ammo!!!

Gas, food, and lodging are still the biggest part of my shooting budget..!    ;D

This plus the cost of shooting has made it more expensive for me to shoot Cowboy Action Shooting.  I have to limit myself to less big state and regional shoots and stay in the local area.

Last year I went to Mule Camp in Georgia.  From Virginia to Georgia the travel, lodging and eats plus the price of the shoot, which is starting to get out of sight, it cost me and the little woman close to a grand.  I love to shoot CAS, but the cost is getting to be too much.  I don't like the idea that the ranges that put on these shoots are sucking us dry.  I don't know about the other sports and their costs.   ???

I'm not sure of how much the clubs charge for the Cowboy match's, but here, is, I believe part of the reason, my favorite sport, silhouette shooting has dropped off dramtically. Use to be, a club would charge $10 for a big bore entry fee, if they had a pay back. Most of them went down to $7, but then didn't have any payback. Just pay the target setters, and club fee's. Pretty soon though, more clubs dropped out, as match directors, like myself, got burnt out after so many years. Pretty soon, shooters had to drive alot further, as clubs that were still holding matchs, got further apart. With gas price's up, it cost alot more to just make a ''local'' match. Last fall, I was talking with an old friend of mine, who hadn't made a single silhouette match all year. When I asked him why, he said he figured out, it would cost him a minimum of $80, and probably closer to $100 to make a match. $50-$60 in gas, $20-$30 for match fees, plus ammo.(And he's a bullet caster like me), but with powder and primers, he still figured around $8-$10 in ammo costs. And maybe $6-$7 for a hamburger stop. I hope the trend doesn't continue. We keep trying peace, it usually doesn't work!!  Remember-(12/7/41)-(9/11/01) gypsyman
