got my burris zee rings today!!!

just in got a set of burris zee rings off ebay, they look like some good rings, hopefully they work better than my millet angle lock rings i currently have!, i was wondering if i needed to "lap" the new burris rings before i intall my scope or can i just mount them on and go?

If they're not Signatures with the poly inserts, they should be lapped.

dang it!!! i was hoping you werent going to say that, i thought that the burris signature zees and just the custom steel zee rings were the same, dang it dang it!!!, i knew i should have asked, hopefully these arent inferior rings i was wanting the burris rings cuz that what yall saying are the best rings to use on handis. shoot!!!!, well anyway, how difficult is it to lap them, they also came with some friction paper to place on the bottom rings ?  can someone help me out here??

The Haydon kit is the least expensive lapping kit I've seen, that's why I bought it....but I've read of others using a 1" wood dowel or water pipe wrapped with wet/dry sand paper to lap rings, as long as the wrapped rod is 1", round and straight, it should work.

In my limited experiance, the Zee rings seem to be some of the best in the price range as far a tolerances go. I like the Millet Rings. They are strong as an rock, but have found mine needed considerable lapping, more so than the Zee rings.

thanks for the info guys, i think what im ganna do is cut a chunk of 1 in round stock from work buff it up lightly and get some of our lapping compound from our fuel pump room (used for lapping internal parts of a fuel pump i imagine this is the same type of compound used in the lapping kits for scopes?)and give the rings a light buff, i dont see why this shouldnt work, i guess if u guys dont think that this will work please let me know.
