Gamo Varmint hunter
« on: January 04, 2007, 03:01:13 PM »
I got me a Gamo Varmint hunter a few days ago. It is a nice rifle a lot better then I thought it would be
The same day I bought a 500 CT tin of crosman Premier Hollow point .177 cal pellets
When I got it I bore sighted it and took it out and sighted it in at 20 yards and right off from the first shot I was with 1/2" and all my shots stayed in the 1/2" range.
Today I went in the woods to pick up my deer stand and took my gamo with me. once I packed my deer stand up I decided to see how the gamo would work under field conditions, I found a tree out at 15 yards with a bump sticking out and used it for an aiming point. Using the stand for a rest the first shot was a little low I fired 3 more shots and all 4 hit in the same hole I had 3 pellets smashed together and the 4 th one just missed the other 3 by a hair. I adjusted the sights and took a norther 4 shots and all 4 shots where in the same hole I couldn't find the pellets this time but I could see all 4 holes touching. I was happy with the groups. while I was playing around A small bird landed in the tree I was using as a target, No restrictions on shooting these birds so I took the shot. the pellet hit the bird center of the back and took out the entire back off the bird. I could not believe what this little pellet did to that bird. I would love to see what it will do to a squirrel.

well today I found out what the gamo would do to a squirrel.
I had a nuisance squirrel chewing on my wood in the yard. He made the mistake of not watching me today. I took the rifle out and put a pellet trough his head just under his ear at 30 yards (laser range finder) he fell over on the spot and flipped a few times.
the pellet went clean trough.

For the price I paid for this rifle I am really having a lot of fun with it. it has not accounted for about 40 birds and 1 squirrel
