Model 7 260 for a youth rifle

Looking at a model 7 in 260 for my son. He shoots a 3030 now but wants a bolt rifle. What is the lenth of pull on a model 7. I really don't want to cut down a stock if I can help it. I was going to take him out to try one on for size but none locally. He is 10 & average size 80lbs & not recoil shy. Looking for a light rifle with a short lenth of pull.

The length of pull on the jr models is about an inch less.  My suggestion has always been, buy the rifle in standard length (stock) and buy an after market "cadet" stock for it.  When the kid grows into the full sized stock, just trade it out and sell the short stock on Ebay or somewhere

LOP should be between 12" and 12.5". Works just as well for grownups too.

The LOP on my Ruger Compact is 12.5".

I think beemanbeme has a very good idea.  A cadet stock from Ramline is only about $50- $60 bucks.  My only deal is I kind of feel youth stocks make recoil worse - especially if barrels are only 20" and loud.

Thanks I think the ramline cadet with a good but pad such as a limsaver & reloads will do the trick. I think the recoil will be fine he shoots a 3030 in a H&R & it dosn't bother him & i figure he can keep through adulthood.

My suggestion is from the other direction.  By the youth rifle and then just buy an aftermarket full size stock when the time comes.  They (full size) are easier to find and more variety.

The .260 Rem in a Model seven should be just about PERFECT.

You could get a 700 youth in 308 then restock to full lenght. The 260 is a great caliber, (I have one) but ammo choice is limited. Availabity may be a issue in the future. Remington not really promoting it as it should have.308 goes from 125gn low recoil to 180 grain
