Suggestions for short ata mid priced bow
« on: January 08, 2007, 05:27:34 PM »
Well, after two elbow surgeries I think I can shoot again. I am looking for a smooth drawing smooth shooting mid priced bow. i have a couple of people looking for a goodd used Mathews but i also tend to like something different from everyone else. (my last bow was a Darton) I want a short ata 30"-31".theres not many shops to shoot at close to home. So anyone with a suggestion for me to look at would be appreciated. I will do my best to find a dealer to shoot them  at. My son has a mathews and it sure is sweet but I dont want to sink that much into a bow just yet.

HoundDog55, take a look at the Bowtech Tomkat. I came really close to buying this bow, but found a great deal on an Old Glory.  The Tomkat is a 31 ATA bow with a very forgiving 8.5 inch brace height.  They can be had bare bow, or set up ready tohunt from palces likes Sportsmans Warehouse.

Another bow to consider is the Ross Archery CR 331.  I played around with the CR334 at a shop and was very impressed with the bow, Great build quality, 7 3/4 brace height, comes stock with Winners Choice Strings/cables, and teflon cable slide and Sims leeches and limb savers.  The draw on the 70# was very smooth.  Not a speed demon, but with an IBO of 305, it is plenty fast for my needs.  Good luck with your decesion.

well, Ive never been one to fall into the brand hype. I went and shot a lot of different bows and ended up buying a Bowtech tribute. The main reasons were the smooth shooting, and being able to shoot 295fps through the crono with my 26" draw leangth. I got a good deal on a shop demo.  It's got everything I was looking for- short ata, smooth, quiet, and very fast.

I have the Tomkat, best bow I've ever had.  One of the best features is that I can shoot it sitting down from most angles, even from a tree stand.  Very short bow, very forgiving, quiet and smooth.

This that I do, I do by my own free will.

I got the new Parker Hornet 2plus.  30" ata.  It shoots great and fast.  Well over 315 with light arrows.  Forgiving and smooth bow for being so short.  Long range accuracy as well.  Try it out...
