Correlation of tricks/tips between Handi and Rossi
« on: March 02, 2007, 11:35:27 AM »
I'm getting  a new .308 rossi soon(on layaway).  I've heard that it is a very close copy of the Handi, and that alot of the tricks on the handi work well with the Rossi's.  I was wondering what tricks should I expect to carry over to the Rossi and which I should ignore.

Most curious in the Trigger.  The trigger on this gun is like squeezing a sponge.  :-\

Good Question...Hopefully someone will be able to answer you...I can't since I have never owned one nor have taken any of them apart to work on them...

I have a standard barrel .223 Rossi and there was nothing to do to it like you do to a Handi Rifle.
The barrel is free floated and very noticeably so except where the foreend lug is.It shoots wonderfully.I wish my ultra lite .243 Handi had shot this good.
I do notice one thing about the Rossi that is different from the Handi. That thing is that the first shot out of a cold cleaned barrel is right in there with the rest of the shots.A Handi requires a fouling shot or two or leaving it a wee bit dirty from the last outing or else the first shot is high. The Rossi does not do this.
My concensus is that you should not sell the Rossi short just because it is made in South America. They are good rifles.
