PAXTON CANNON BRONZE 6 POUNDER CONFEDERATE HELP

  High to you all need a little help 

  Its a 1861 bronze conf. cannon 6 pounder made bye paxton & co.of viksburge,ms.
what i need to know is what unit if any it servered in ?
what kind of carriage it would of been on ?

This is little history  i found on it.

 It is one of the rerest surviving cival war cannon in the files of Wayne E Stark.
It is the only know  surviving cannon from A.M. Paxton& CO. of Vicksburg MS.

 When Quinby&Robinson of Memphis suffered a fire in 1861,several unfinished  casting wear recovered after fire.
The casting wear sent to A.B. Reading & Bros and A.M. Paxton & Co.for finishing.

 I have been asked to help make a new carriage for it .This will be the third peace i have evere built and the second time i have built a historic correst carriage. Need as little help before i drown im a little over my head . lol

Virginia Tech. has one of the most complete archives about Civil War history around, but I'm not sure I'd know where to start.  You have an interesting investigation ahead.

A six pounder would have been mounted on a Number 1 carriage.  There may have been minor variations in the construction at different arsenals.  You can get a set of drawings from Don Lutz, see the "Where to find Blackpowder Cannons and shooting supplies" post at the top of the main page.

Good luck on finding out what unit this gun was issued to.

sorry abought the pic gun show and i got suked in to take care of a both.
the worst part of it got back to take pics of cannon and digatal camer died give a day or two sorry.
