I could use some help identifying this press I picked up at the Salem gun show today.  It has no dies (dealer may find some that belonged with it)  I know Herters made one like this and Corbin and this may be a home made press.  I can find no marks or ID on it.  I have not removed it from the steel plate to see if any marks are on the bottom.  Anybody know what I have.  The small black ring that screws into the ram has three holes for inserting a rod to turn it out or torque it down.  The Ram void is rather small, I don’t think it would accept a swag-o-matic  die.
Any Ideas?  Thanks in advance.  JB

I posted this at castboolits as well and they let me upload a pic of the press.

I will put a file to the ram to see if it is hardened.  I posted this over at the cast bullet forum and someone id the press as a Herters.  He advised me that CH Swag O matic dies will fit the ram.  the punch will need to be fabricated.  That could be a problem.  JB

That is a Herter 9 ton press.
But that one is a lot rougher than the one I used to use

Thanks leadpot, do you have any memory of the configuration of the punch section.  I need to give the press a good scrub and a buff up with steel wool.  It looks tight no slop, but then again, what do I know.  Any info would be appreciated.  I do not have a Herters catalogue to see any pics of the dies and punches.  I will check my colletion of handloader digests.  Thanks again.  JB

JB.

I don't know for sure any more I havent had it for at least 35 years now. I dont remember if it has a 1/2xNFT or 9/16 NFT threads for the top punch.
If you have a small hobby lathe you can make what ever parts you need for that press.

JB.
You might want to make a Google search for a Herters 9 ton or the 20 ton swage press and see what you can come up with.
