H&R trigger pull .243

I tested the trigger on my HandiRifle .243 and it was 3 Lbs 9 Ozs. I was surprised. I think that is quite reasonable for a stock trigger and probably compares well with most mass produced rifles. I bought it last year. I plan on doing a little polishing to lower it even further but I'm in no hurry.

If you are going to hunt and shoot the rifle off-hand I wouldn't lighten the trigger one bit. When you tense up in a hunting situation you need a bit more trigger than if you are a dedicated bench shooter.

Not only that, it likely will get lighter with use, my 45-120 BC trigger was a little over 2½lbs two years ago, it's now at 21oz just from use, so I wouldn't recommend going much lower unless you have a spare trigger and hammer on hand, and want to hone another one.

I aggree with Tim, about trigger getting lighter. On my 257R Handi I started with my standard 30oz trigger pull it is now 27oz. All my hunting rifle have 30oz triggers.
This rifle has not fired a shot for 1-1/2 years I just put back together yesterday after a tightning up job and a new tougher latch spring. See how it hangs together.
My 17HMR Low Wall has 48oz pull and I don't like it, but been too lazy to do something about it. But you could live with a 3 lbs trigger.
