Barrel length is a personal preference, I hunted several years with a Lancaster flintlock with a 34" barrel, so a 32" BC isn't all that long to me, but others may not feel that way about it and like short barrels. If you're a short barrel lover, the BC wouldn't be a good idea, you'd be unhappy with it. Performance difference would be no different for hunting at ranges the .45-70 is used for, the longer barrel does give a longer sight radius for a peep sight which is good for long range shooting, but that's not a forte of the .45-70 as far as hunting goes, just target shooting.
I mentioned that H&R puts one of two different front sight heights on the BC, the higher .584" is too tall for the WGRS peep, many of us had to swap it out for the .404" tall front sight. The other sight they use is .494" which works good with the WGRS, but the .404" available aftermarket, is the best for any long range shooting if you choose to do so.
The link in the FAQ shows the ramp and Firesight insert that's on my rifle, it's good for trapdoor loads that put the WGRS aperture holder about mid ramp, so you have some travel both ways, depending on the load.
