Crap just looked through my Burris and it has crap floating around in it. I have heard other people have had problems with thier 2x7's too on Handgunhunt.com This has me mad as hell  My Weaver has never let me down.It has held up to a 358JDJ with full-house loads and no muzzle brake for two years. It's been on a 45-70 and a 445SM too.It will stay on my '06 NO BURRIS will go on any of my big game barrel's ever again!Come Monday it will go back to Burris   and see what they have to say.I'm sure they will fix-it but ,my trust in their scopes is nill. :? When I get it back it will go on my 22lr or 22-Jet.I just can't bring myself to trust a scope that has failed on my.Let alone take it on a hunting trip 600mi. away.In all I do like the Burris, I just may have got the bad one.But ,I will always put my FULL TRUST IN THE WEAVER!

It isn't just that scope. Burris in general seems to have a problem with trash in scopes.

I had a Burris 2X with a speck of fly crap in it. Then I blow it clean off the top of a 44 and they sent me a new one!

I just returned one also. Variable adjustment jammed and the elevation adjustment does not seem to be working. This was a brand new scope.

Leupold the answer? How much must a guy spend for a scope that will hold up to the heavy pistols? I'm a poorboy!

:D I have to agree with KYODE! I have been shooting a 2x7 Burris on my unbraked 358JDJ for over 8yrs. Never a problem. I have a new 3x9 acculok on an unbraked '06 and only shoot heavy 180's and 200's out of it now for over 2 years. Still looks great and still works. Maybe it's just me, but I even have so real cheapo Tasco 30mm 3x and 4x, simmons, Bushnell, and of course 5 Leupolds and I never broke one. I still think the secret is multiple (at least 3) rings to prevent scope-tube flex. They can flex alot under heavy recoild, and this is what makes them fail. Extra rings add weight , but that's not all bad.  :D BTW- I use my Leupolds when the chips are down and an Elk hunt is in the wind. I actually prefer fixed powers for hunting. If big game can't be seen with a 4x, it's way too far for a clean handgun kill. Even then, it may be depending on your skill. It's only my opinion, I could be wrong.   Small game and varmits are another matter--but who hunts them? just kidding. Variables and higher powers do have a place, just not for me when durability matters and the weather can turn very cold and snowy.
Good luck with your Burris scopes. I'll keep my old 1x-4x, 2 x7 and new 3x9.
The first shot is the best shot, it may be your only shot!  Do it with a single-shot.

I 'm a big fan of Burris scopes. I own six of them, however my 3x12 Signiture series rifle scope has had trash in it. Lots of small specs that could be seen on low power but would disappear when scope was turned up. I sent it back with a letter. I recieved the scope back with no explanation or apology. It seemed clean at first but now shows some light pices of trash. It is sitting in a box waiting to be sent back.
I have had no problems with my 2x7 on my .223 Contender or my 4x on my 7-30 barrel. I have had no problems with the Fullfield line. Go figuire my most expensive scope would have a problem.

I had to send back a 2x Leupold that didn't even last long enough to let me sight in the gun properly.  It was on my 454.  Even the best scopes fail on the big boomers.

I had to send back a Burris 2.5x7 that was on my 309 JDJ.
The only thing you should feel when shooting insurgents is recoil.

Got 1/2 dozen of them myself on Contenders, wheelguns, and rifles...Never had a problem.

BUT, I did send the 2x-7x stainless that is on my Ruger SRH 44 Magnum back for repair.  I was getting the holster and handgun out of my truck one morning and the handgun slipped from the holster.  The 'scope couldn't have hit more squarly on the eyepiece when it fell to my concrete sidewalk!!!  It bent it viciously and changed the angle of the lens.  Sent it back to Burris with an explanation it was my fault (obviously!!) and I would pay for the repairs.  A new 'scope was returned FREE OF CHARGE.  I can't complain about that deal...BCB
