Medallion added to Family
« on: February 18, 2007, 04:24:56 PM »
Picked up an A-Bolt Medallion in 7mm Mag with BOSS at a decent price.  Stock needs some work.

What is the best way to fix the scratches/dents?  Hot iron to raise the wood, followed up with wax?  Looks like the worst ones are by the bolt release.

This is going to be used for elk.  Anyone have any loads for the TSXs?

You got a good gun there, I had an a-bolt medlaion in .270wsm with a boss, you want to talk about a tack driver, i sold it to a buddy and bought a BAR in 30-06 with a BOSS.

Looks like the scars are only on the finish and not into the wood.  When I get a chance, I will lightly sand and see where that takes me.  Also came with the CR device so I will check it out to see how it works.  I am thinking the 160 TSX will be the load I will try first.

Suggestions on the scope finish?  Not sure how the matte scope looks on a gloss rifle.  What say you?

If it shoots good, I would leave it alone.

A little lynseed oil on them scratches will take care of your problem better than any sandpaper or steel wool.

Once you remove the finish from the stock - you will have a hard time matching it up again.

I like a shiney scope on a rifle and really never got into them matte finishes...  Just my opinion.

It may be a mute point because there is a crack on the stock.  I found a crack where the rear action screw goes thru the stock.  Sending it to Browning to have them look at it. :-\

Will my synthetic stock off my 30-06 fit this or is a magnum a different action length?

the action length is the same, but the barrel contour maybe different. The 7mm has a magnum contour barrel, the -06 does not.If it doesnt fit you could always open up the synthetic with a Dremel tool though.
