My $9 GB mortar
« on: March 03, 2007, 02:43:19 PM »
I finally found my camera and thought i would share with you a pretty fun mortar I have run a few pounds of powder through and have lost just a few golfballs. I run a pretty mild load of 1, .45 ACP case worth of 3f  made into cartridges as I find it easier and I do believe safer than just dumping powder into the chamber. Set it off with quick matches I make up. 1.70 bore with a 1x1 chamber, which I also think a little large for this piece, and a barrel of 4 inches in depth made of 3 inch steel roundstock of what grade I don't know but was told by the machinest that bored it for me it would be adequate. Had to buy the nuts and washers and t-nuts I use on it so I had a major expense of 9 whole dollars invested into a mortar that is worth a million dollars in fun..Walt
