Browning serial number help
« on: April 14, 2007, 05:01:44 AM »
I went to Browning's site to see if I could date my B78, but I couldn't match it up with either of the numbering systems. Can anyone help me with this? The number is 10330W57. Thanks.

Some of Browning's serial numbers do mot match their SN system!
For example, Browning says the first year for the BL-22 is 1969, I have one with a 1968 SN.
I also have a T-Bolt that does not match the numbers on their website.

That's what I thought. I have seen a couple of others with similar numbers. They have a deal for $30, I think, where they will research your gun and write you a letter with information about it. I think I'll do that. It would be interesting. Went back and looked, it's $40.

If it's any help at all, they were only made from 1973 to 1982.   My .30-06 had the "W" year indicator ("57" is the model indicator), and AFAIK I bought it new about 1978.
