Non- stop vs $
« on: April 03, 2007, 03:32:04 PM »
Is it worth the extra, and it can be quite alot of money to fly non-stop, one change or even two plane changes. An other question, is one carrier better than the next, is there a stop over airport to stay away from?

I have heard to stay away from London if you are traveling with your rifles.

It depends on where in Africa you are going.  If you transit Amsterdam, you need to apply in advance for a gun permit.  France doesn't permit transport of firearms chambered for "military" cartridges.  If you stop in South Africa, you need an SAP permit, etc.  A travel agent knowledgeable about the needs of hunters should be able to tell you all of this and should have at hand the most up to date information.

NYC has a bad rep for transporting guns to and from your hunting sight.  On my second trip thru I was intentionally held up by some security person until I missed my plane to SF and had to pay $50 for a taxi to get to McGuire (?) and then fly home thru Chicago.
When seconds mean life or death, the police are only minutes away!
