Qustion for 22 hornet owners
« on: March 14, 2007, 01:00:28 PM »
Today I called H&R to order a couple of rimfire ejectors to use to make custom ejectors with, they are the flat type that shotguns take.  H&R will not sell any rimfire ejector without fitting it to your barrel, no matter how much I groveled they would not turn loose of one of them.  I need someone with a 22 Hornet to take a look and tell me what type of ejector the barrel uses, the flat shotgun type or the tall thin one like a .223 takes.  The Hornet would be the right heigth for the 30 Carbine barrel I have built up if it is the flat type.  Failing that I will just have to make one from scratch.  If you don't know what I am talking about a picture would help me figure out what they use.  Larry

The ejector on my hornet sure appears to be taller and thinner than the one on my 223. hope that helps.

The wide part that I refer to is on the bottom part that goes into the barrel lug.  Shotgun ejectors are wider than they are thick and the rifle types that deop down for rimless cartridges are thicker than they are wide.  The part that goes up the barrel breach really isn't a concern, I can mill that slot any size I need.  The picture below is a shotgun ejector, the rimfire is just like it but with a taller ejector part up the breach of the barrel, it tapers to a narrow part near the top.  Larry
