i got 1 and i love it. shoots good and fun to shoot. just remember to shoot light loads in it because it will shoot loose from the brass frame if it is fed all heavy loads.

The price is OK, and the accessories will get you started.

I don't see a 36 caliber Navy brass frame on the Cabellas website, but I would recommend the 36 over the 44 in the 1851, if not for authenticity, at least for the fact that shooting the 36 will place less strain on the brass frame assembly and last a lot longer.

If you want a 44, you would be better advised to get it in a steel frame, even in an 1851, but of course, an 1860 is more authentic.

If you must have the open-top, get the 1851, 60 or 61, but if you can abide the Remington design, even in brass, it is a much stronger revolver.

All that being said, the brass frame is pretty.

One piece of advice on the Remingtons though. Ya need big hands or long fingers. I started with a pair of these in SASS and shot them for 4yrs. but the hammer was a reach problem and after I tried a 51 Colt the remmies got sold.
 Just my two cents.

I bought both of my remmies from Cabelas at the same time. One shot perfect and the other less than perfect. Luck of the draw I reckon. But then again I shot them both for 4 yrs and had a ball with them. The Piettas are decent guns. Not as nice as Uberti's but still good shooters. I have 2 Pietta's and 3 Uberti's.  3 of them are 1851's and 2 are 1860's. Love them all!
