Springfield A3O3 busted stock

I need some help and advice.  I have an old Springfield A3O3 in 30-06 that has taken many dozens of elk.  The wooden sport stock got cracked bad in the wrist area last hunting season.  I need to replace or fix the stock.  Thinking about going to a synthetic.  Any suggestions for a drop in with good accuracy potential would be welcome.

If it is only cracked you can spread it apart gently, then work epoxy in the full length of the crack with a toothpick. Tighten a couple of wraps of wire around the wrist to pull everything together and let it set up.  I did this to a muzzle loader I had, then tightly wrapped 12 ga. copper wire around the whole wrist.  I finished it up with some brass upholstery tacks to hold the wire in place.  It saw some hard use for 20 years before I finally sold it.

358jdj:  Check our spponsor list.  At least one of them sells gunstocks and may have something for you.  If that doesn't work check out the latest Shotgun News - I have seen at least two advertisments for Springfield stocks - military surplus in one of them, possibly sporters in another.

If that doesn't work for you then you can try bedding compound, it works.   I had a 8mm Mauser with a cracked stock (cracked in the handle just behind the bolt, but when I bedded the action and applied bedding to the cracked area it sealed and healed it right there.  HTH.  Mikey.
