gun show
« on: March 19, 2007, 01:49:05 AM »
I went to the Indy 1500 show on saturday and only seen two handy rifles,  one was an old 30-30 topper which looked nice, but I dont need a 30-30.  Second I seen a mix matched 243 blue barrel nickle reciever and wood stock.  I also seen 223 winchester white box for a whopping 20+ a box.  Just annother reason not to go to a gunshow.

Ya' think the .223 owners on here had anything to do with the increase in demand/price and it being hard to find?  ;D ;D

I went to the Lawton, OK gun show on Sunday. There was a .308 survivor with a junky scope for $400. There were a couple of other rifles one with green laminate $350 and another pallet wood for $325. I it looks like the Handi's hold their value to me. These were used rifles in pretty good shape.

I guess I should consider myself lucky. I went to the gun show at Stover, Mo. last Saturday afternoon and bought a .223 / 20 ga combo for $230. It's blue/synthetic with a Survivor(?) forearm and a United brand (????) scope. The square-ish forearm has a thumb wheel to remove it from the barrel instead of the phillips screw. According to the serial number it was made in 2000. Haven't had time to shoot it yet but have an assortment of ammo and a cleaned and shiny .223 Handi waitin' for by the door for me. Didn't see any WWB .223 at the show but they did have a few boxes of        22-250 for $24. Dan

Got a shotgun, a rifle (some Handi-rifles) and a four wheel drive - a country boy can survive.   Hank Jr.

My guy at walmart told me yesterday that ever since winchester moved out that all the other companys were jacking up the prices to what they wanted and as a result everything in walmart stores is going up. He said that you could get it for a buck last week and now its 5 bucks. He also said that some manufactures are upping their prices on their rifles. He said it was mostly varmint cals. The .223 mini 14 that they always have on display there was about 520 and now its up to a 560 dollar price tag! :o I cant beleive this! I doubt we will be seeing much of the winchester white box anymore. :'(
