groundhogs in huntsville al. area?

i'm going to huntsville for work. are there any groundhogs in this area?

As a teenager I hunted groundhogs just north of you in the southern middle tn area.  Back in the 60's, it wasn't uncommon to kill a dozen in a day.  I don't see near as many now, probably due to coyotes, bobcats etc........as well as fence row to fence row farming......

Groundhogs love beans......I would stop and ask permission and if they're a problem the farmer will probably tell you where to look and what time of day he see's them....

There are still some groundhogs around, and while hunting them, you could always call crows or coyotes.......

There are some, not a lot but most are on private land so gaining access to shoot them is not gonna be easy. You'll be less than 100 miles north of me at Huntsville.

thanks! i'm going to be there for about two months. i would like to find some to shoot at. i have a new .204 ruger barrel for my contender carbine. i'm thinking it will put the slam on groundhogs! i've only shot targets with it so far. graybeard, can you tell me what kind of license if any i'll need for groundhogs? is there such a thing as a non res. varmint license?

We don't have all those complicated licenses and tags like other states do. We have a hunting license period. There are two types of out of state license, one is for a very short period and the other is a regular season license. Being a resident I have no clue what the costs are.   i'm from florida everything you do here is difficult! they make everything hard. i'm looking forward to spending some time in bama.
