Mines not till 25 May, so I got a long wait.  :'(  Guns not ready yet, anyway. ;D

It started rainin' and I really don't feel like doin' chore.  I learned how to do this and couldn't resist. ;D

To All,

The kids get to go next weekend! ;D Me and wife have to wait until the 16th of April. We did go fishing today and caught some brem. I will be cleaning them shortly, got enough for dinner one day this week. The crappie have not started yet or we have not found them yet. useing worms so the kids can catch them. Well, time to clean the fish!

Last few times I was down to Dad's for fun time, we were unable to find them either.  Hopefully, get down early this summer and find them.

Hey Cookieman,
got my turkey barrel back H&R last week. Went to the range yesterday. Shot 3" Bismuth #4's wilth a real good pattern out to 35yds. Should be ready to go April 23rd. saw a flock of about 15 birds near Austin on saturday, but havent heard any gobbling yet.

I was out in the garage working on cars Saturday, had a Tom gobbling his fool head off in the woods accross the road. Kinda early for up here, but the weather has been nice the last few days. My hunt doesn't start until May 7th. :'( Good luck everybody! :)

aldar, is that Austin, MN?  I don't get to hunt till the 25th May.  Hope I'll be able to find em by then...
I hunt the last season, that's the only option for my zone.(339).  A friend has seen lots of em in the area that I want to hunt, so I may have a good chance.

yep, Austin,MN  have been seeing quite a few around here too(Albert Lea). Buddy bought some land near Mcgreger and has seen a few around his place also. DNR has been releasing them in his area the last couple of years

I think these last couple winters being a little milder have helped them along, also.  Maybe in a few more years we won't have to have a lottery for them.  Don't really mind be limited to only 1.  But it sucks having to wait a couple years after you get a permit, cause of the lottery.  Well, good luck...hope WE get one. ;D

To All,

Well, the kids don't harvest a turkey this weekend, but we had fun! On Saturday I called a Tom to about 10 yards from my daughter and wife, but she didn't drop the hammer on him. She turned to her mother and said with big brown eyes. "Did you see that". On Sunday at fly down you would have thought that the woods where alive with gobblers. Boy! The jakes were gobbling there heads off. A very enjoyable weekend. The wife is fired up about the season coming in on the 16th of April. She was up and ready each morning. She wants me to use some vacation time to take her turkey hunting, What a woman and a very good wife.

that sounds like a great time. I didn't get a permit for my daughter, but then I don't think she would want to get up at 4am either. it's the experience that counts, not the kill.
