Interarms Mark X Non Adjustable Trigger
« on: February 27, 2007, 01:17:56 AM »
Thinking about trying to reduce the pull and travel of this trigger. Does anyone have any experience with this trigger? ???

The best solution to those is to put a Timney trigger on it. They're cheap, much less than working over the stock trigger, and work well on Mausers.

Nobade is likely right, especially if the trigger is a standard 2 stage mauser unit.. If on the other hand its one of the propped sear adjust is possible if a bit slow.. It does require a delicate touch and a bit of knowledge but can be done.. The Timney's are a simple and elegant solution and a great time saver!

I know my Interarms Mark X came with an ajustable trigger but it's bee many years since I ajusted the trigger. I beleave it has one screw for overtravel and one for setting the trigger weight. I think min is at 2.5 to 3 lbs.

Have a Timney on the way and also a Simmons 6.5 x 20 x 50. Will redo the stock and probably free float while  doing that. ;)

Timney Featherweight trigger with no safety came in. Have installed it but cannot get the factory Mauser 2 position side safety to work. It fires in both positions. Instructions call for grinding corner of front cocking piece sear to solve the problem. Am afraid of going too far. Have ground the front sear down a pretty good amount with no luck....Any suggestions???? :-\

The safety works by camming the striker to the rear. The cam ledge on the safety engages a small slot in the top of the striker and forces the striker to the rar and off the sear..  Grinding the sear is NOT indicated unless the safety won't move because the striker is too far to the REAR! If the striker is too far farward the ledge on the striker can be moved a bit to allow the safety to engage. I don't see how the rifle can fire if the safety is engaged..and these are 3 position safeties.. right is fire, straight up is safe but the bolt can be opened, left is safe and the bolt is locked.. What is your situation? I cringe when I hear the term grind applied to a sear surface unless and precision machine is also involved!

If the safety is attached to the bolt shroud it still functions as the mauser does just minus the middle position.. When the safety flag is moved up it cams the front edge of the firing pin extension backwards just a bit.. This takes to load off the trigger sear. If the rifle fires with the safety engaged, I would guess the safety is no good..

My fault, I guess. Bought the one listed for my rifle but it obviously wasn't designed for the Interarms side safety. Bought another with the safety and finally got it working (set at 2 3/4#s). Was not a simple bolt up installation though. Had to inlet the stock and file the trigger guard a good bit to get it to work. It is okay now. This completes the trigger, free float and installation of a Weaver 4 x 16 scope. Time for the range again. Hope to post some pics after the range session.
