QUESTION about changing barrels
« on: March 25, 2007, 02:08:23 AM »
I am new to these rifles, I intend to buy one as soon as a sell my Taurus 38spl. As I understand it, If you want to get an extra barrel for these guns you send in the reciever and they fit the barrel to the gun. If this is true, will it work if I buy a used barrel form someone, or will a used barrel still need to be fitted to MY gun. If it will work will it be accurate?

Thanks,
AA

If you buy a barrel directly from H&R they insist on fitting the barrels.

If you buy a used used threw a private party you may or may not have to do some fitting yourself or you could have your gun smith fit the barrel for you.   Two out of the three used barrels I've bought fit and functioned perfectly on my receivers without having to do anything.  My most recent acquisition needs a little fitting which I will do myself.

Read the FAQ section above for more information about barrel fitting, trigger tuning, accurizing, etc.
