T3 Octagon Barrels
« on: March 17, 2007, 03:25:03 PM »
I have 2 octagon barrels that I believe are T3 barrels. One is a 10", the other a 12". What forend do I need for these barrels?
I have tried the Pachmayr forend and adapter, but they do not fit these barrels as well as they fit round barrels.

Thanks in advance for all help.

Herman

There arn't a lot of options for the octagon barrels other than the custom stock makers.  As far as I know, TC only made the little short walnut forend just for octagon barrels.  The earilest were snap-on( soon replaced by the still current screw on version).  If they ever made a synthetic, I've never seen one.  Octagon barrel forends are easy to spot by thier inside shape made to match up to the flat contours of the barrel.  Fajen did once make a target forend for them.  They are almost as long as the barrel and shaped liked a flattened banana.  They show up on E-bay occasionally.  GOOD SHOOTIN', Walt  ;)

You can give John a call, he makes custom wood for Contenders & Encores.  You can find his posts over at specialty pistols forum.    http://www.muttmotorpool.com/contender.html
