Well guys who are the top power tool makers ? I know it would be to hard to pick just one. Because if you are like me I like several. So here is your chance to tell everyone who you like best. You can pick three and the poll will run for 14 days. Good luck and happy voting.

I had to go with Dewalt, Bosch and Craftsman, in order of preference. To be honest picking three they didn't have any competition, as I've not used anything else to my recollection.

Porter Cable makes an great buffer, has an electronic speed control. Free rev speed is the same as the loaded speed (help prevent burning through paint), heavy enough to do the job with very little effort. If your looking for a buffer, this is the one!
PS: forgot to say, this is rebuildable if used heavy for years, externally replaced brushes, no need to tear down.

Can some one that has never run a buffer before get good results with out doing damage to their car?

I find that the Black@Decker"Quantam" line of power tools suits my needs as a weekend hobbist.

Sorry, it's not foolproof on buffing. It's an art.

Hi Dale, I looked and looked for Ryobi but could not see it so I voted for 2 of my choices, Makita, Hitachi (great framing guns and compressors) and "other" for Ryobi. I have found that Ryobi cordless and corded power tools are by far the best value for the dollar, especially for the homeowner or hobbyist, although I like my DeWalt power tools also, just much more expensive. I see no reason why Ryobi tools would not work well for professional contractors also. They have immediate replacement at Home Depot if they do break, at least they tell me they do, I have never needed that service....<><....

MSP, I was offered the same guarantee from Lowes on DeWalt tools. All was OK, until the time came to cash in. No dice. Nobody knew anything about any kind of replacement warranty.

I'm not denying anything, but if it's not in writing, I don't believe it myself.

I voted earlier. Dewalt, Bosch and Craftsman.

Yes she is. That little girl means everything in the world to me. That is an old picture she is 11 now and growing up to fast. Yesterday she brought her report card all A's and 1 B I could not be more proud of her.

I picked Dewalt, Milwaukee and Other. Other being Husqvarna.

I have a variety, Bostitch framing, coil, and palm nailers, Porter Cable finish and brad nailers and compressor, Black &Decker/Dewalt cordless and corded drills and impact, Dewalt 12" miter box, Makita cordless drill and impact, 4 Milwaukee sawzalls, 3 Skil 77 skilsaws. What gets used the most is the ryobi 18V tool package, I bought the kit thinking it would be "disposable", so far all I've disposed is the batteries, new 2-pack is $40 at Home Depot. My wife just bought the 18V jigsaw tonight, $38 delivered. I did return one battery, Home Depot replaced it. I have 2 kits, no problems for 4 years now. Also have an old Martin 36" table saw, 220V 3-phase, maybe my imagination, seems like the neighborhood lights dim just a little when you first turn it on.

Have been buying hand tools from Ace Hardware, anymore they have some nice tools, priced right, lifetime warranty. Even little podunk towns like ours have an Ace Hardware.

I used to have Milwaukee. Now I only use DeWalt. I beat them up 40+ hours a week with few problems.

Almost all of Craftsman power tools used to be made by Emerson in eastern Tenn. Now most of Sear's hand power tools are made by Ryobi in Anderson, SC. and their new table saws are Chinese. You want Ryobi, go to Sears OR Home Depot!

Shortly after Sears dropped them, Emerson they became Rigid and were picked up by Home Depot. The tools got better, IMHO.

I use all brands, buy my tools by the features, not brand, but it's hard to beat Milwaukee and Makita for durability.

After more years using them than I care to think about, I believe I have had the best durability, and fewest problems with my Milwaukee, and Porter-Cable tools, although I think that Bosch makes a great Jig saw.

I need a new one, mine is an OLD Black and Decker (A Black label "pro" grade tool, back when they made good stuff) but I got it in '62. Still good for ruff work but lacking in finesse.

Would you telling us exactly what/why you like your Bosh so well?

I really like the feel of it for one thing. You don't need any tools to change the blade. It also takes t shank blades. It also has a roller type thing that holds the blade straight. It goes through 2x lumber like a hot knife through butter.

I agree... My Bosch jig saw is the best i've ever owned or used... I'll say the same thing about my Bosch circular saw too...

Anyone ever view on PBS, The New Yankee Workshop? Seems as master carpenter Norm Abrams works in his shop, you see tools that weren't even invented yet. Top of the line tools and a "jig" for every application.

I remember when that show started out... He made many huge mistakes in his furniture designs.... Years later he addressed those issues and and started learning from them...

He use to have an assortment of brands of tools, now he gets everything for FREE and that's what he uses... I'm not guessing here, he said it in an interview...

He builds some pretty nice stuff these days and i enjoy watching the show too...
