What would you suggest for loads to start with and approximate distances ball will travel. I have fg ffg and fffg powder. I am almost finished with a field carriage with a 30" 24 pounder from canadian cannon co. and I have the same question for it as well. Thanks Derek
Assuming it's steel, seeing a powder chamber, and assuming golf balls for projectiles; I'd start with 20-30 grains of ffg. That should bracket on both sides of 100 meters fired at about 45degrees elevation. (Assuming bore diameter of 1.70, shorter with a bore of 1.75".)
That's a guess, size of fuse hole will also affect range.
