Encore synthetic forends and Harris bipods
« on: April 05, 2007, 03:38:34 PM »
I was hoping to get a definitive answer as to whether the use of a bipod on a synthetic forend will adversely effect accuracy. I've been told by a couple of folks that the bipod will only work well with a wooden forend because it is stiffer. I'm shooting a 204 heavy barrel.

I don't think they adversely affect accuracy but the placement of the sling swivel stud on the Encore forend isn't in the optimal place for use with the Harris bipod (though they do work).

I have the exact same setup (.204 hvy bbl), What I ended up doing, after taking my brothers advice, was to re-drill another hole approx. 1" back from the factory swivel hole, There is a molded rib in the forestock which is where I place my hole,The width of this rib is  the exact same diameter to accomodate your new hole & swivel screw. You have to be careful and make your measurements exact . This gives a much better, steadier platform for the Harris bi-pod ;)
