Measurements on different Mauser actions.....
« on: March 29, 2007, 05:40:26 PM »
I'm not in the position to be worried about this yet but I'm picking a couple of Mauser actions for different stuff and have a question for you Mauser experts.
I already have a sporterised Kar98k barreled action and it, of course, drops straight into a factory stock for a large ring M98 action.
However I've also found a decent Turkish '03/38 K action and may also be picking up a barreled action from a 1924 FN Herstal Mexican Artillery Carbine in 7x57.
The Turk is a short action being a K action and the FN carbine is (if I'm correct) an intermediate action.
This being the case, are the actions screws on the Turk and the FN going to be different distances apart than the Kar98k action?

Cheers & God Bless

All I know is the yugo M48 8mm mauser  has the shortest bolt.(shortest)  My 98k german 8mm mauser bolt will interchange with my Turk '38 8mm mauser. (middle length) I believe there is one thats a longer bolt too.  I think there are 3 different bolt lengths.

I swapped out the bolts from my german 98k and my turk '38 and they feel tighter in each gun and both passed on the headspace too.  My german  98k had a very loose bolt.

The difference is the M48 and Siamese Type 45 are 7-5/8" and most others are 7-7/8" between the action screws...I am talking M98,VZ24 Turk and so on, not the model 93,94,95,or 96...
