Who makes over-sized laminated wood stock blanks?
« on: May 22, 2003, 05:22:22 AM »
I am making Ferguson rifles. Thickness at breech requires stock blank to be at least .250 inch thicker -- about 2.750 inches thick minimum.

Who makes laminated rifle stock blanks this thick?

More particulars include:

1. I prefer more than 16 laminations per inch.

2. I prefer laminated walnut or laminated maple. The last time I did this I used laminated birch because that was all I could find at 2.750 inches thick.

3. I prefer not to mix woods in a Zebra effect. Results wanted are that the finished and stained stock closely resembles walnut.

Give Wenig's a call.  they may not have what you want, but they may be able to put you in contact with some who does have what you want.

You also might contact Goby wood products.  Here is their website.  They can probably cut you blanks that are that thick.
