I have called in a coyote early on a set that I didn't shoot because of too much brush or he winded me before I could shoot.  I would then turn on the woodpecker call for a few minutes and two times this winter I killed a bobcat after seeing a coyote that came in the first 5 minutes of a set.  One of the cats came in about 10 minutes after the coyote left and one about 15 minutes after a coyote.

I live in SE Oklahoma but not so far SE to get into the mountains. 90 miles SE of OKC. I hunt river bottom ranches mostly with lots of deer and turkey.  I have found that if there are lots of deer and turkey , there is always lots of predators....for awhile anyway.

I called in a fox one time and just when it was coming into the open it took off like a bat out of hell.  I couldn't figure how I had spooked it until a minute later I saw a coyote at the other end of the field.   Not sure how he knew that coyote was there so quick but he did.  I ended up getting the coyote that day and the fox about a week later.

No such luck here...Just seems that the fox got harder to call in once the coyotes showed up.
If I really want a Fox I have to go early with the short range cottontail & make those clean, light high pitched quavering screams near orchards or cattails or other areas that will give the fox an advantage on being able to outmanuver the Coyote while making good on its escape. This is just my opinion but is relative to my success rates on Fox these days.

One exception is the Great Horned Owl. I cant even begin to tell you the amount of times that I had to keep one eye on the owl while continuing to scan for the four legged predators. Many an owl has had a ring side seat to the demise of those dogs and I have had my share of low passes over my location. I can recall a couple of times that I waved one off with the gun barrel.

When the rifle goes off, and a biped stands up, that owl gets the message real quick and is gone. I have often wondered how many times (if any) that the owl encounters a bobcat, Fox, or Coyote while investigating the real screams and is able to Bluff those predators out of their catch simply by flying a few low passes?

Sorry onecoyote, I realize that this doesnt count but pound for pound, the great horned is as fierce as those predators come...besides, they have the advantage of air superiority ;D ;)

Had a similar experience but in this case there were two yotes that appeared. Only was able to tag one of them.

Yep, I've called in Great Horned Owls a time or two myself. In the middle of  night it can be a little scary when all the sudden you hear a woof-woof-woof from there wings right over the top of your head.

I'm sure you are right about a Great Horned Owl being fierce, but you must consider it only has three weapons, A strong beak and two talongs.
For it's size a bobcat has five weapons, a mouth full of nasty sharp teeth and 4 buz-saws. A bobcat gets my vote lol.

Ahab, calling in two coyotes can be vary common place in the right areas. I was talking about different animals on the same stand, like a bobcat and a coyote or maybe a fox and a coyote.
