Spied a limited run New Vaquero today.
« on: April 04, 2007, 11:05:04 AM »
My wife and I are in Gulf Shores Alabama this week and while down here I have dragged her to six gun shops so far. Well we stopped in Pensacola today to watch the Blue Angles practice today (very cool) then we went into the Naval Avaition Mueaumk too (also very cool) then we went to some gun shops. There is a place down here called Jays Guns and in there we checked out the limited run blued only New Vaqueros. They had a couple and I have to say that they are super!

The polish on them was very much like the old high polish Blackhawk. I liked them so much that I am thinking that I should strip the color case finish off my Biley Vaqueros and high polish the parts and hot blue. They are too cool and IMHO Ruger should drop the CCH & Blued guns on the Vaqueros and swich to a high polish blue (and of course they should keep the high polish stainless too).

If your like that sort of thing, they would be worth a look.

They've been available for a little bit now and are a Davidson's run.  There's two bbls lengths available I believe, 4 5/8" and 5 1/2".

Right. I had seen some posts on the Rugerforum on them a while ago. I guess the point that I was trying to make is that they are really nice looking and that the total blue job is something that I think Ruger ought to switch too. You hear so many complain about the "CCH like" finish that Ruger uses, it might just be worth it to throw in the towel and switch to the all blued finish. They really look that good.

Now the thing I don't care for...... The gun is too small for me plain and simple. The grip size that is one there fit my wifle's little hands perfect. For me, the one in our household that buys the guns, I don't think that I'll ever warm up to the new guns. I like Bisley and Super Blackhawks exclusively. Again I believe that Ruger is making a huge mistake by eliminating the Bisley Vaqueros. Dumb Dumb Dumb!!!!!

I'm with you sorta. I like the all blue because it makes the gun a totally modern single action with fixed sights, nothing for show all buisness. For the person looking for a SA field revolver with fixed sights Freedom arms is the only other company to offer a gun without artificial embelishments. However I think the guns aimed primarily at CAS shooters and they have done quite a bit for the industry. So I say keep them happy and dont discontinue the color case model.

Well since my wife and I are Cowboy Action Shooters and we like to be happy, I would like to see the Vaqueros made all blue. But we are only two votes so I don't think Ruger will sit up and take notice of our wants anyway ::)
