Need Input on Taurus PT145 45ACP

I am considering a Taurus Millennium in 45 ACP.  It is the Model PT-145.  It has a 31/4 inch barrel and is in matte stainless in double action.  The Taurus has a lifetime warranty.  I want this as a carry gun as it is small enough and will still have the punch of the 45 ACP.  My reservation is that this little animal will have one hell of a bite with full hardball 45 loads???  I realize it is a carry guy but will need to work it on the range to get used to it.  Would I be better off with this same gun in 9mm??  Let me know what you guys think as I do value your opinions.  Also are there thoughts on the Taurus line in general??  I did look at the Kahr's and they are up there on the dollar scale.  Give me your thoughts.    :eek:

I own the pt 92 and pt 945 full size pistols and like them very much.
the taurus compact pistols dont get very good reviews,and have problems with breakage.I would look elseware for a compact 45,the rugers are in the same price range.

Thanks for the info on the compact Taurus 45 ACP.  I have a Ruger P95DC in 9mm but it is large for a carry gun.  I wasn't aware Ruger was turning anthing out in a compact version.  I guess I need to go to my local gun show this weekend and see what's on the tables for eyeball comparison.  Thanks for the input as I will hold off on my decision.  :)

Hi have the pt 140. 40 cal version. Excellent compromize between the 9mm and 45.   The only thing the PT series is good for is Conceled Carry.

Very crappy trigger but it works. It's about 12lbs pull and not very smooth travel. So as far as practice, dont look for 2"groups at 25 yds. If you can hit a pie plate at 10 feet that is what you need to use as concealed carry gun.  For that it is great.

I don't like my gun for that reason. (Trigger Pull}  I prefer double action for target shooting.
