Some of you expressed an interest in how I have pillar bedded the fore-stock. The pillar allows you to tighten the screw and get metal-to-metal tight contact that is uniform after each dis-assembly and re-assembly.

If you have any questions fire away ;D

Question fired.
Where did you get that pillar? Or was it a home brewed thing? How much space is between the forearm and barrel?

I got the pillar machined at work. It is made of aluminum, is 0.35 inches in height and is 0.625 inches in diameter. It is designed to sit atop the fore-stock lug where it makes metal-to-metal contact.

Nice job Mc!

Been thinking about making a few of those belly buttons myself. Just haven't figured out what I want to use yet.

If there is enough interest in the pillars perhaps we can go in together and get a gunsmith to turn us a bunch.

Mc, my post wasn't directed at you, another member posted he wanted to make and sell them, if you or anyone decide to make and offer them or anything else for that matter, be sure to contact Bill up front with your intentions so he knows what's going on and you don't vilolate his policy. ;)

I don't have the means to build one but would sure like one. I'll jump through whatever hoops (Follow the rules) to get one if someone decides to turn a bunch out.

It was Savage Rookie who wanted to make em and sell em, McLernon wants to also, but they need to go thru Bill to make arrangements to sell em,  which shouldn't be a problem if they're just charging for cost of material and shipping. If they want to sell for profit, that's another matter.  ;)

McCleron, that looks nice. Does it work better than the o ring trick? Have you tried it in combination with the o ring?

Mc Lernen.
I can't endorse the steel on steel application on the barrel lug; the factory system is the same. Steel on steel and most Handis will positively respond to the o-ring isolation with improved accuracy.

The system I use is forearm uplift on both the forearm tip and the back at the hinge piece with isolated pressure at the barrel lug and expansion foam or silicon between the tip and the hinge piece.

This may sound strange but I have 7 single shot rifles, namely two Handi's, one Winchester 85 low wall and  three Ruger #1's and one Ruger #3 that all have the same forearm treatment.

All 7 rifles responded to this forearm treatment and all shoot less than 3/4". The 25-06 Ruger #1 shoots under a 1/4".
