Just ordered a new 12fv and need some help
« on: July 10, 2007, 04:47:05 PM »
I would like to order a  scope base, does the 12fv have a flat or round rear receiver.
I would also like to order a stock  the stock I want is the bell and carlson Medalist Tactical/Varmint stock
The web site selling this stock says the stock will fit the 10, 11, 12, 16,  with a center-to-center distance of 4.25" between the action bolts.

I wont be able to pick the gun up for two weeks but would like to order this stuff now, but I want to make sure this stuff will fit?
Thanks

I would think that the stock you mentioned will work. I just looked up the 12FV on Savage's page. It is an internal box magazine so you do not need a hole in the stock for a clip or external door. I have ordered a stock for a Stevens 200 that said it was for a model 10 and it fit fine. I think all of the newer short actions take the same stock with the exception of some single shots, some of them have  a 3 screw action. The Model 12FV is a two screw action.
