I finally did it!!!
« on: April 01, 2007, 05:17:55 PM »
After weeks of looking and researching and with the help from all of you, I finally ordered my daughter a .223 youth superlite. I checked prices form everywhere and Wally World was the cheapest by about $30. I went there two days ago and found out that the guy not only gave me the wrong price, but they also told me that they couldn't get the youth model in the superlite. Why? I don't know, and neither did they. So yesterday I went to one of the local gun shops and went ahead and ordered it from them. $249.00, and $20.00 for the scope rail and the hammer extender. Now I'm not sure if that was the best deal or not, but I did it anyways. Now the only problem that I have is the scope and which one for a 6 year old. I guess it's back to the research. :-\ I just wanted to share this with you and to THANK YOU ALL for the help.

thanks again,
Barry

You might want to check out BSA Sweet 223 scope, I just put the sweet 22 on my 22 and I am impressed. If I had a 223 I'd try it...

How much do you want to spend on the scope, Barry? If you're looking for an inexpensive but very nice for the money scope, the discontinued Simmons ProHunter 2-7x32 is a mighty nice little scope. I have one mounted up in a configuration that I think would work great for a young shooter, it has a good 3½" of non critical eye relief on 2X, would be something I'd consider for my youngins. It could be mounted in medium Burris rings in either a forward or rearward position depending on how well the stock fits your daughter.

Make sure you get a scope with good eye relief.. A kiss from a scope will instill bad memories and habits if not careful(not to mention you'll feel pretty bad if your baby gets hurt)...

Since she's only 6, I wouldn't go with anything with a lot of bells and whistles, maybe even go with a fixed power scope as you are wanting to good shooting practices...

Best of luck and congrats on adding another handiholic to the fold..
