NSSA Spring National Match Video
« on: May 20, 2012, 09:03:16 AM »
Here's a video intended to give non-NSSA-ers a taste of what the cannon match is like.  This was recorded yesterday.

Yardage looked to be approx. 200 yards, is that about right?

This is one of  the things that made living east of the Mississippi pleasurable.

Just once, I would have like to see them fire a volley.

Yes. At one time the competition was a combination of a 100 yard breakable tile event and a 200 yard bullseye event.  Everything is 200 yards now because of an errant shot that went into a campsite on a ricochet from a shot at a 100 yard target.  All targets are now close to the backstop.

The NSSA spring nationals were a great time!  The event staff was super helpful and ran an awesome shoot.

Setup between a bronze Napoleon and an Ellsworth with tube sights, our rookie cannon crew firing the 2.25” Mtn rifle placed 13th out of 28 teams in the rifled cannon division. Very pleased with our 1st nationals.  :)

Artilleryman,  Was that you on position 5, 3rd relay with the Ellsworth?

No, I don't belong to the NSSA anymore.  However, I help build the one that you are referring to.  It belongs to John Mcleod of the 7th Tenn.
