Make sure that you are closing the gun FIRMLY. These guns can be a little stiff sometimes and if you don't close them up firmly the latch engagement might not be enough to prevent the gun from opening. The FAQ has a section on "pop open". Do yourself a favor and read through all the FAQ, you will learn alot (trust me). You can learn alot from other members on the site so don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it.

PS   Welcome to the site   ;)

Most new barrels need a break in period. Some will need as many as 100 rnds. fired thru them before the groups begin to tighten up.This is true with many brands of rifles not just handys. After the barrel smooths out you should be able to get 1 inch groups with just about any good brand of ammo.  OH, and a more suitable rest may help.

also make sure there is no oil or grease on the barrel latch and the matching engagement notch in the barrel lug....<><.... :)

Congrats on your rifle. And an excellent price too at $125.
As for the rest...what they said. Take your time, relax and read through FAQs. There is years of knowledge and experience stored up in there, and it keeps growing.
Oh and pick up a couple different boxes of ammo. See how they fly.

Try lots of different ammo, use a few shots to foul it after cleaning.  I cleaned mine when I bought it shot about 20 rounds of assorted ammo and it started to tighten up. I was using a bipod and bags on the back end to support it.  I can cover 3 shots with a nickel on the current ammo and it does that every time I shoot it.  I cleaned it once after I found the current ammo and after a few fouling shots it is right back on where I like it. Congrats and good luck.  Oh yeah and what a great toy for $125, nice buy.
