Wesson #1 Long Range Rifle
« on: March 25, 2007, 11:42:07 AM »
Here is a link to my Wesson
http://public.fotki.com/rk4570/

Its a reproduction of the late 1870s Wesson #1 Long Range Rifle. I used a 32" Green Mountain barrel chambered in 38-50 Rem. Hep. The action was made by Mr. Steve Earl & is serial #27.
I spent a lot of money on Guns, Wild Horses & Wilder Women but I guess I just wasted all the rest!

Well that's certainly a nice rifle! Is that Ken Hurst's engraving work? How much of this rifle did you do yourself, or maybe a better question is can we have details on the various facets of this buildup?-Vall

The engraving was done by Ken Hurst, Glenn Fewless was the gunsmith, Douglas Mann finished the stock & checkering & color case was done by Classic Guns. These are all very fine people to work with.

Ive been shooting & collecting rifles for 40 + years & this is "THE " rifle!!    8)

Thanks for the info! That's certainly an illustrious list of gun gurus, and probably some of the best in the business in my opinion! I'm sure you'll agree that it's nice to enjoy such a fine piece after 40 years, and most likely many other nice guns during that time!
