trapping grounds
« on: April 02, 2007, 07:51:22 PM »
me and my uncle trap private property, we have permission, but what if a person couldnt get permission
where would they trap, some times we hunt on eglin air force base, its some kinda national forest, is that where itd be legal to trap
lets say south vermont has a national forest where people hunt, would it be legal to trap that national forest, or is trapping restricted to private property, i guess my question is with out private propety ,where would people trap

I'm fortunate in my locality of Upper Michigan as there is  miles on end of State land, National forest and Mead Paper Co land to trap. I can leave my front door driving North and after passing through 3 miles of private property I enter the State forest where there is no civilization for the next 35 miles of two track sand roads. Ace :)

Alfie is right on, just because hunting is allowed, doesn't necessarily mean you can trap.
Whenever in doubt, check with your game warden/ conservation officer.

Nope, it means check with your DNR or a conservation officer. Not unless you want to pay a fine or lose your right to trap on the word of a store clerk or who ever sold you your license.
