Bear: Wasn't me doing the shooting with the .30 cals, it was always someone else. I do carry a 30-06 a lot, for Caribou during the winter. I only shoot Nosler Partitions at that time. The one Caribou I did lose, was lost to a bear. I've just had so many bad experiences with others shooting .30 cals, I don't particulerly care to go out with someone shooting one anymore. During the Fall for Moose I carry my TCR in 338 Win Mag, or .35 Whelen.
Yes, this year I did shoot two of the three Moose with my 30-06. I shot two proxy moose for friends. One was with a 125gr varmit load. I shot her right behind the ear, End of story. The second was with my .338 TCR with a 225gr Nosler partition. The third was again with my Handi 30-06 after the scope was broken on my TCR. I was using 180gr Nosler Partition. 200 yard heart shot, she ran about 40 yards and fell.
