shavings when loading accubonds
« on: April 06, 2007, 04:04:07 PM »
Just started loading 308 win. with accubonds. But when seating the bullet sometimes there is a tiny bit of copper shavings, not much just a tiny peace here and there. I full length resize and the brass is brand new winchester brass useing RCBS dies. Never had this happen when reloading 30-30 win. with lee dies. Is there something i am doing wrong or just something that is normal.

If you chamfer the inside of the case neck you shouldn't get the shavings. just use one of the chamfering tools after you trim the caseand or size it. The bullet should go in easier without shaving the bullet jacket.

so and so's pages on the internet = not reliable resources
Alway check loads you find on the internet against manuals.
NEVER exceed maximum listed loads.

I do chamfer, but don't consider the issue a problem, just a curious anomaly that I've not seen on any other bullet.
