200mtr Model 40 groups
« on: April 10, 2007, 01:33:10 PM »
I fired a couple groups with my Model 40 .22Hornet at 200mtrs, the weekend.

Nice and calm day. Bit of a left to right drift.

I was pleased with the results, given my rudimentary sandbags rest, and it's a little tricky for me to repeat a precise aiming point with my Tasco 4-16 High Country.
The 40gr Nosler Ballistic tip always seems to produce the goodies for me. Under inch and a half.
The 40gr Sierra Sp wasn't quite as good. Still under 2 inches, though.

I enjoy shooting at 'varmint' targets. Beats shooting dots, squares or circles !!!

I managed 10 hits from 10 which is always satisfying.
Isn't it a great little gun, that Savage M40, and a beaut little cartridge to load for ?

The target is printed to fit on A3, so it's a good 'lifesize' image. Then chopped in half to scan to A4.
The rule is in millimetres, (for the uninformed, roughly 25mm to the inch).

cheers,
Sean in 'Godzone'

Shame we don't have any groundhogs down here.

I only get to practice on paper !  Never mind. It's still fun getting out into the fresh air.

Hope you're on target, and your Savage behaves itself !

cheers,
Sean
