What's it worth?

My brother-in-law has a 22-250 with a serial # starting with NG. He said that it has only had a couple of boxes of shells run thru it since he bought it new. It does have what I believe to be a bull barrel, hammer ext, scope base and rings. The stock and receiver are in great shape. He keeps telling me to make him an offer but, being a newbie at this, I don't want to over offer.  Any advise?

It is an early receiver (1992) that the factory will not fit "high intensity" barrels to. I would say from your brother-in-law about $125 - $150 would be about right, if you get along with your brother in law. Neither of you would get hurt to badly at those prices...<><.... :)

I thought that the factory would fit anything after 1987?
Maybe it's not something that I want after all.
I must have miss understood some of the other posts.

The * marked barrels will only be fitted to frames made 1999 or later, as described in the FAQs, that would be HN or NN and subsequent. The 22-250 is marked by an *. All unmarked barrels in the accessory list can be fitted to frames made since 1987.

any shotgun barrel (except a 10 gauge or 12 gauge USH), any huntsman barrel, any centerfire rifle barrel of the "low intensity" types, 30-30, .357 Mag, .223, 45-70, etc. could be fitted by the factory to that receiver. It is just the "high intensity" barrels such as the .280, 30-06, .270, etc, those marked by an asterisk (*) in the accessory barrel program, as Quick said, that the factory would not fit to that frame. If you want .22-250 I think for $125 to $150 it would be a good price and it would be a good gun for you. You should always be able to sell it as is or part it out and recoup your purchase price if you did not like it. If you can get it for $125 - $150 I say get it!!...<><.... :)

Some of those barrels don't sound to bad, even if I don't like it, it would be some good trading material ;)
