awesome crappie jig

Hey everyone,

I figured that I would share my (or my wife's grandfathers) crappie secret, it works great and I think it is even better than live bait. What we do is take a red and white HOLLOW jig and stuff it full of cotton and then soak it in that spray on crappie scent stuff. We just drop the whole jig & hook into the bottle of crappie scent and the cotton soaks it up and holds the smell for ever. Then all yuo do is fish the jig like normal and the fish will love it. I have tried several colors but the red tipped with the white skirting is the best for lake Monroe here in Indiana. You have to buy the hollow ones so you can stuff the cotton into them and hold the scent. I would have never even thought about this if it wasn't for my wifes retired pro fiserman grandfather wouldn't have showed me - but it is TRUE. Give it a try and let me know how it goes for you.

Do you mean the jig head is hollow, or is it a tube jig with the tube the hollow part?

The tube is the hollow part - not the Jig head.

Thanks.  That makes sense.  I have often used scent, but haven't used the cotton method.  Sounds like a great way to go and I'll be trying it if the weather here in Ohio ever warms up.
