my son has the plinkster and it has been very reliable, but alot of people have reported alot problems with them.  The model 60 has been around for a long time and most people have nothing but praise for them.  If i were to buy another one it would be the 60.  The only thing that I don"t like about the 60 is that it is tube fed, but that is just a personal thing.

I just bought a used 60 because of the tube feed. While clips may be handier I like the tube for the number of rounds you  can put in it. Just my own little protest against the brady folks  ;D ;D ;D Yea I have went the Ruger route and I like the 60 better just my opinion I think stock it is more accurate on the average.
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

I own both of these .22lr rifles. I would have to say both of them where great guns. The Model 60 is more accurate, but with the clip on the plinkster you can get alot more rounds off. The model 702 isn't made anymore. It's been replaced with the model 802. I can't tell you the difference between the two mossbergs. Can anyone elaberate????

The model 802 is a bolt action, vs the 702 is semi auto. I might have to pick up one of these now. lol

The Marlin is indeed a great gun for the money...I had a used one for a spell and liked it alot; unfortunately, it developed serious feed troubles for no apparent reason so I gave up & sold it. A friend of mine has one and it has performed flawlessly for him. I can definitely say the iron sights on the Mossberg are superior to those on any Marlin semi-auto I've seen; even the fancy SB version I had with it's buckhorn rear & Widescan red front wasn't particularly good in my opinion. The little Mossi also appears to be a good gun for the money. Another friend has one & to my knowledge has only experienced issues with it when it has been shot alot and not cleaned for a while; I find that to be true of any semi-auto rimfire regardless of make. The Marlin is a bit more money, but has a larger capacity tube mag (which I like) and is made in America, whereas the clip-fed 702 is a Brazilian import IIRC. The Mossberg is slightly handier and easier to use, at least for me, but I think the Marlin is a better built rifle, and possibly more accurate in the right hands. I don't honestly think you could wrong with either gun so long as it works good and is properly maintained. If you can, handle (and preferably shoot) them both before making a final decision :) I hope this helps some & best of luck with your decision.

Kind Regards,
