I recently read a story on (something like) the california long range cowboy silhouette championship.  Most of the shooters were shooting modern lever actions in pistol calibres, but the winner was shooting a vintage model 73 in 32-20.

Where do you find info on these matches, such as dates, places, etc., and especially what the matches consist of (ranges, targets, rules).  I'd really like to make up some proper steel targets for practice and get into this game.

I checked around for same gun   UBERTI offers the only 32-20 that I have found right now  1873 sporting rifle 20" or 24" barrel a little pricey at 900.00 retail   just do a search on UBERTI It will come up .

I shoot a Rossi 92 in 357 mag.  The bet shot in my club uses a marlin 1894 in 44 mag.  He got his grand slam last year and it had a serial number 5.  Some of the others use marlins in 38 special and various 22 mags.  One guy uses an origional Win 92 in 25-20.

Six gun,
   So far, i haven't gotten any answers about the shooting courses.  tell me more about this 'grand slam' you mentioned.

In NRA Silhouette a Grand Slam consists of shooting 10 in a row of each target type.  You do not have to do this in one match but can be cumulative in any sanctioned match.  

When you shoot in a sanctioned match and get ten in a row of one animal, the match officer fills out a form and sends into the NRA.  The next time you shoot ten in a row of a different animal, a form is filled out and sent in to NRA.  When you shoot 10 in a row of all 4 amimals, the NRA will send you a certificate and a pin.  On the front of the pin is the four animals with the number 10 in them and on the back is engraved your name and serial number.  The serial number indicates how many people have completede a grand slam.  

I just got my grand slam in Small Bore Cowboy Rifle.  The first ten in a row that I got was with the pigs.  Next I got turkies, then rams and then chickens.  My grand slam serial number is 10.
